Richardson sits at an interesting crossroads — literally and figuratively. Straddling Dallas and Collin counties, it has the urban-suburban energy of a city that never quite became just a bedroom community. The Telecom Corridor along US-75 put Richardson on the map decades ago, attracting engineers, executives, and families who bought homes in neighborhoods like Canyon Creek and built lives there. Those homeowners stayed. The city has one of the higher homeownership tenure rates in the Metroplex, which means its yards have history — mature trees, established plantings, landscapes that have been layered over time.

That's both an opportunity and a challenge. Rehabilitating a  landscape requires understanding what's already there before deciding what needs to change.

Working in Established Neighborhoods

Richardson doesn't have the blank-slate new construction of Prosper or Frisco. Most of what we work with here is established — yards with 30-year-old crape myrtles that have been topped too many times, irrigation systems that haven't been updated since the 1990s, bed lines that have drifted over decades of mulching and replanting.

We approach each projects differently because of this. The goal is often renovation and rehabilitation rather than starting from scratch — removing what doesn't work, repairing what can be saved, and introducing new design elements that feel intentional rather than tacked on.
